Background

A way to meet the always increasing competition is to be able to offer all forms of training both external and  and internal to the company. An important success factor for many of Avalon’s cutomers is to offer innovative education solutions where you use both traditional and newer electronical aids. An example of such a customer is Electrolux Laundry Systems (ELS). Avalon has been apartner of ELS when developing InterActive – a system for distribution and follow-up of traditional as well as interactive training (E-learning).

After having successfully used InterActive to a certain category of users, ELS now wanted to turn to a much larger group. The goal was that all service technicians, including the retailers’ technicians, would be included in the education and certification program.

Problem

Electrolux needed a tool to administer and strategically plan the bigger training effort. The tool should provide the person responsible for training a quick overview over the education level of different regions and it should also be possible to set and communicate educational goals to users and administrators.

Solution

A new part of the InterActive system called ”knowledge mapping”, was developed in a collaboration project  with Avalon. The system gives the possibility to map training results to user goals. The results can then be compiled to show how a group, department or region has performed in relation to a certain training effort.

The system is very flexible and can handle several organisations simultaneously. The educational goals can be set individually.

Result

The first training part is carried out and the system is being launched in the Electrolux organisation. Avalon has a confirmed confidence from Electrolux and has moved from a technical supplier to a collaboration partner who is also active in development of work methodology and training material.
